Biocon gained recognition for its affordable drugs, becoming the first Indian company approved by the FDA. Mazumdar-Shaw has received prestigious awards and honors, including the Padma Shri and Padma Bushan. 

Then there’s Aruna Jayanthi, who went from being a software engineer to becoming the CEO of Capgemini India, a global IT consulting and services company. This made her leader of one of the Capgemini Group’s largest business units. Managing almost 60,000 employees, she focused on increasing the integration and performance of operations across the consulting, technology and outsourcing services business units. Her career trajectory and journey moving up the ranks of a global company increases representation of women in C-suite positions and enhances hope for future women in the industry. 

These stories of triumph serve as a source of inspiration and motivation for aspiring women in tech. 

Challenges Faced by Women in the Tech Industry

While progress is being made, women in the tech industry still face numerous challenges that can hinder their professional growth.

Unconscious biases and gender stereotypes are pervasive in the tech industry, creating hurdles for women. From being doubted in their technical abilities to facing unequal opportunities for career advancement, women often have to work twice as hard to prove themselves.
